Ava has been working with the Sandpaper Letters for a while now and has successfully learned the beginning sounds A-Z. Typically after a child has learned the first 2 sets of letters (5 consonants and 1-2 vowels) they begin to put small words together. Ava and I were working with another language work that used word cards. Ava decided she wanted to spell out the words from the word cards. Although doing so meant skipping a few ordinary steps in working with the moveable alphabet I decided to "follow the child." Ava, with little help, spelled these few words out.
Way to go Ava! (I love your moveable alphabet and tray!)
ReplyDeleteWow! I am super impressed. We are going to start letters this fall.
ReplyDeleteThat's great Jayme! Tip: Always start with letter sounds before the actual letter...you'll be surprised how early your child will read doing it that way. :)
