She'll Be Coming 'Round The Mountain

We took a trip with my parents and their church staff over spring break. Chris had a conference in CA and was unable to attend. We arrived in Pigeon Forge April 6th and stayed through the 10th. I wasn't sure how Lucy was going to do on such a long trip but she held up pretty well considering. Ava is a master rider other than potty breaks. (hehe) We were able to see the show Dixie Stampede, the indoor amusement park called Wonderworks, a great outdoor park, and the outdoor amusement park DollyWood 2 days in a row. The girls had such a blast! Not to mention the amazing cabin we got to stay in. I have so many fond memories of TN because we vacationed their nearly every summer when I was a kid. I'm sure we'll visit again and next time Chris will be with us.

We went to Dixie Stampede as soon as we arrived in TN because it was our dinner reservation. Ava screamed with excitement when the horses came out of the gate. She especially enjoyed the comedian that was part of the show. He was dressed in a chicken costume and danced about.

I had never been to Wonderworks but was always intrigued by the upside down building. It was a bit crowded because it was raining out that day. Most attractions were for older kids but we along with her new friend, CiCi did what we could.

Ava was amazed at the gigantic bubble she made.

Wednesday we went to an outdoor park to let the kiddos run around. Because our cabin was at the top of the mountain with no place to safely play outside this was a perfect option.

Later that evening we went to DollyWood for a few hours. Ava had seen a giant ferris wheel out on the strip driving around and wanted to go on it. I am not a big fan of them but knew there was one in the kiddie section in DollyWood. Fortunately Grandma came to the rescue and volunteered to go on with her. She got to ride the Amazing Flying Elephants and the Smoky Mountain River Rampage.

Thursday we went to DollyWood again and got to ride the Rockin' Roadway, Slideshow Spin, Village Carousel and hit up the Smoky Mountain River Rampage again. We didn't get to ride everything we wanted between lines, nursing sister, eating lunch etc. But we enjoyed what we got to see and the time spent with family and friends.

Here are a few pictures of the 4 story cabin we stayed in. The view was amazing!!! Look at God's handiwork!

A few pictures of the girls on the day we left to head home. It was an enjoyable vacation! We have to do it again sometime soon!!

  2. I'm so sad I didn't get to go with you all. I'm glad everyone had fun, but a little jealous.
