Mother's Day Breakfast

It's a rare occasion when I get to spend alone time with just Ava. Today was one of those rare occasions, Mother's Day Breakfast. Ava was so excited for me to go with her to school and check out her classroom. We entered her classroom and she led me to her cubby where I found my present she made me. Hanging in her cubby was a necklace made of peach ribbon with a metal washer medallion she had painted with nail polish. Written on the back was her name and the year. She showed me the necklace and then proceeded to put it on her neck. (girly-girl)

Her teacher invited us to find a place to set up for our special snack. Ava found a rug and rolled it out for us to place our snack on. For snack we had the choices of a heart shaped doughnut with pink frosting and heart sprinkles, bananas, apples, oranges and bottled water. Ava served me my snack and instructed me to get a napkin and fork. Ava ate just the frosting and sprinkles from her doughnut. I enjoyed the doughnut and a banana. (who's counting calories anyway?)

After we had our snack Ava showed me around the classroom. She settled in the Sensorial area of the classroom and chose the Rough and Smooth lesson to work on. She would try an object and then let me have a turn before settling it under the right label. I enjoyed watching her confidence and enjoyment as she placed each piece down. When we were finished we joined the rest of the mommies at circle for the Mommy raffle. Ava was pretty bummed we didn't win any of the prizes. Secretly, I was too because one prize was from my favorite bakery.

Before we headed home I got to watch as she played on the playground. She balanced walking across the bridge, tried out the new music garden, dug in the sand, slid on the slide, and played some basketball. Such a beautiful morning spent with my first princess. I'm such a blessed mommy!

She was excited that she found this small white pebble in the sand.
